As the title states, God answered all the prayers and we were not quarantined. PRAISE HIM!!!!!
The journey from St Louis to Beijing went very well. We left St Louis at 6:15am yesterday morning and arrived on time in Newark. One family flew with us to Newark and then we met more families once in Newark. The flight from Newark to Beijing was long but smooth. It seemed like they were constantly feeding us. We each had a TV monitor with movies, TV shows, games, music, and a map to keep us occupied. We became a little nervous when this little boy two rows in front of us kept coughing the entire flight. The flight attendant had to say something to his mother because others were complaining about him not covering his mouth. We suppose we weren’t the only ones concerned about being quarantined. As we came through a body temp scanner, our friend Angie was pulled aside along with two others from our travel group. Their temperatures were checked again. Angie had to go to a third checkpoint but then was cleared to go. Praise God!
We got to see part of Beijing on our bus ride to the hotel. Everyone was right about the traffic and how drivers do not stop for pedestrians. I guess the stripping on the road is for decoration and not to indicate a crosswalk. Our guide Jessie is really sweet. Within 30 minutes of being in the room, Morgan crashed on the bed and does not want to walk up. So we are staying in the room tonight. We will venture out tomorrow and see Ava’s homeland. As Hudson would say, only 3 more sleeps until we finally get to hold her. It is still hard to believe that we are in China after 3 ½ years. Jennifer Wright and others were correct, the past 3 ½ years seem like nothing now.
Jackson and Hudson are doing well. Jackson still has not wanted to talk with us on the phone. Hopefully, we will get to talk with him before we fall asleep tonight. We are missing them terribly but feeling a peace from God about everything. Tammy’s sister asked us when we were leaving if the boys wanted to go to Disney with them on Friday. We left the decision to them. So they are heading to our “second” home on Friday and seeing the mouse. Maw maw Mary Lynn is going along also. God has provided a peace about them going. We are glad they are going to have an adventure of their own while we are gone.
Continue to keep us in your prayers. We are definitely feeling them.
