We have spent the day exploring a very hot Beijing. We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel and then ventured off on our own to see the city. If anyone knows me (Chris) very well, this is a stretch for me because I like a plan and am not a risk taker. Our first taxi dropped us off at the Olympic Forest Park not the Olympic Venues. After we walked through the park for around 30 minutes, we realized we were in the wrong place so we finally got a map and a new taxi. The next taxi took us to the right place. It was great seeing the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube up close. We thought Morgan was going to pass out but after some water and a little break he did well. Did we mention the heat is stifling?
We then caught another taxi which took us to the famous Pearl Market. Before going into the market, we had traditional Chinese KFC. We figure we have time to explore new foods over the next several days. After coming out of KFC, we met up with 3 other CHI families. So glad we did because Angie is one heck of a shopper and she was able to get us an unbelievable price on pearls! We are already buying Ava gifts for her future. Morgan also did a little shopping for the girlfriend back home.
After the market, we decided to come back to the hotel for a little break. This taxi ride was kind of scary. I (Chris) decided to sit in the front seat this time and thought I was going to meet Jesus when a big truck cut us off. I (Tammy) just closed my eyes until we got back to the hotel. I really don’t understand why China has striping on the highway because no drivers seem to use them. Tonight we are going to a Wal-Mart type store to try and find a fan to use in the room. We need the noise to sleep.
Tomorrow all the CHI families go sightseeing and eat lunch together and also have an orientation. We still can’t believe that in two days Ava will be ours FOREVER! Praise God!
Thanks again for all the prayers. We are definitely experiencing God’s promise of answering the prayers of His people. Please add safety for Jackson and Hudson as they leave for Daytona Beach and Disney on Friday. We are truly learning to leave them in God’s hands at this time.

I am another mommy of many who I am sure visits this site and reads through all the beautiful journeys! We are about to have our own daughter in Hunan. So glad that God has answered all your prayers and you are all enjoying your time in Beijing! We are asking the same of Him during our trip over in a week! Safe travels and return home with your beautiful daughter!
